Dear Schrobbelaars,
The end of basketball season 2006-07 is near. Two
weeks ago the final homegame was played (and won by D2) and most teams
have already played their final game.
Time for a short review ;)
While last season Schrobbelaar grew from 4 to 6
teams, this season some considerable reoganisation and formalisation
has been done within the Schrobbelaar board. Allthough you might not
have noticed (which is a good thing) new boardmembers have been
appointed and tasks have been redevided and formalised into clear task
descriptions. This should make way for an even better functioning
basketball club and also takes some load of my shoulders since I hope
to finish my study within a year. I am really glad that Ilja (D2),
Victor (H3) and Karen (D3) joined the board and that Floris agreed on
taking a conciderable bigger role as our new treasurer. Thanks go also
out to Floor and Katelijn for giving their input when needed.
Looking at the sportive performances of our teams,
Heren 1 struggled a bit. Most
probably because of having a lot of new team members and the absence
of a coach. They ended up 8th in their competition, though they were
able to win from the higher ranked teams they have the potential of
ending up in the top 5 next season.
Heren 2 did good. New members
strengthened the team and the decision of Mounir to coach and train
them had big positive effects! They ended up exactly in the middle of
their league, on spot 6. I trust this will also be higher next season,
if the team composition stays unchanged and they play together for the
second season.
Heren 3, a team that at the
same time promoted as well as losing some important players (which
started playing for the 2nd team), started of loosing a lot of games.
However, keeping faith and getting Maurits and Matthijs to strengthen
the team, they now get to play close games and even win now and then!
;) Training and playing together as much as possible will make them
grow into a team worth their league and I really think a place in the
middle reagion should be possible for next season.
Dames 1 played this season
without considerable changes in composition. Only Marieke joined the
force. With Mounir as their coach they lost a couple of close games
which, with a bit of luck, could have been won. Ending up 10th in
their competition they made sure they can still play this level next
season and grow as a team.
Dames 2, and their new coach
Lat-Dior, had a lot of people missing this season because of studying
abroad (and becoming a mother; congratulations Fleur!). This had its
effects on their results... A tough season... Though with Florine
strenghtening their team and Hanneke and Natascha (D3) as benchplayers
they were able to keep the team away from the last spot in their
league. Also, next season they will be back to full strength and...
without doubt... dominating!
Last but not least, Dames 3
did very well this season! Playing their second season together,
training and playing together started to have its effect and the
ladies even had their first real winning streak! They really grew as a
team and individually. Ending up 5th in their league they even did
best of all Schrobbelaar teams and being competitive as they are, I
don't think it will stop here. Top 3 here they come!
Special thanks go out to the coaches,
Mounir,
Lat-Dior,
Danny and
Julian for training and
coaching our teams to bring them to the next level! A club without
decent coaches is not able to have a long and successful life! Your
help, time and effort is much appreciated, not only by the teams, but
also by the board! Thanks again!
Also I would like to thank everybody for being a
referee and doing other tasks. Especially those reffing games for the
NBB. I know it is not the most fun thing to do (at least for most of
you) but it makes it possible for the teams of Schrobbelaar to play on
a decent level!
Finally I'd like to focus on two other things.
First of all, since last month we have a
digital 24-second clock. Since
we had to have one, the USC agreed to buy one and let us use it. Next
season this clock will be used by H1, D1 and H2. Since we only have 1
clock this means these teams will never play at the same time but
after each other. Also Schrobbelaar has bought a
new set of jerseys for H1.
Unfortunately they did not arrive until after the last game. The plan
is to gradually buy these jerseys for every team. I put a picture
online on hyves together with a poll... Please grade the new jersey
and tell us what you think!
Please also vote (on the hyves site) on
which day of the weekend you
would like to have our homegames.
The outcome of the poll will not be binding, but will be taken into
account when deciding on the day of the homegames.
I really hope everybody is planning on staying at
BC Schrobbelaar for another season. Though, if you want to
unsubscribe, you have to do this
by sending us an email (
bcschrobbelaar@gmail.com) before
the end of May.
Also H1, D1 and H2 have to
provide their referees (the ones
refereeing for the NBB) before the end
of May. If you do not provide the new referees on time your team
will not be able to play on their current level. A seperate email
concerning the referees will be send out by Victor
(wedstrijdsecretariaat) on a short notice. Finally, if a part of your
fee and/or fine(s) hasn't been paid before the end of May you will not be allowed to play
for Schrobbelaar next season. An email concerning fees and fines will be
send out by Floris (penningmeester) on a short notice.
To end the season in style on June 30th,
Schrobbelaar will organise another one
of those famous Schrobbelaar tournaments. Check
www.bcschrobbelaar.nl (-> another one of the improvements we made
this season) for more details!! I expect
EVERYBODY to join! ;)
Thanks all for another great season at BC Schrobbelaar!
